Dashboard Quick Start

Dashboard

The /IOTCONNECT™ Dashboard lets you create custom dashboards with drag-and-drop widgets to visualize real-time and historical device data. Build personalized views with charts, gauges, maps, and counters to monitor your IoT fleet at a glance.

What is Dashboard

The /IOTCONNECT™ Dashboard is a fully customizable visualization workspace where you can create, manage, and share dashboards populated with real-time and historical widgets. Each dashboard is a canvas that displays device telemetry, platform metrics, and operational data through configurable widget components.

Dashboards support multiple layout configurations, allowing you to arrange widgets in any position and size. You can create personal dashboards visible only to you, or shared dashboards accessible to your entire team. Widgets connect directly to device data streams and update automatically as new telemetry arrives.

Quick Start

Follow these steps to create your first dashboard in /IOTCONNECT™:

Step 1: Navigate to Dashboards — Open the /IOTCONNECT™ portal and go to the Dashboards section from the left navigation menu.

Step 2: Click Create Dashboard — Click the Create Dashboard button to start building a new dashboard.

Step 3: Choose Dashboard Type — Select from three options: New Dashboard (blank canvas), Device Dashboard (pre-configured for a specific device), or Import Dashboard (load a previously exported dashboard JSON).

Step 4: Name and Configure — Give your dashboard a descriptive name and set visibility options. Choose whether the dashboard is shared with your team or visible only to you.

Step 5: Drag Widgets from Bottom Panel — The widget panel at the bottom of the screen contains all available widgets organized by category: Module, Live, Other, DMMI, Device Audit, and KPIs. Drag any widget onto your dashboard canvas.

Step 6: Configure Each Widget — Click on a placed widget to open its configuration panel. Select the target device, choose attributes to display, set colors, ranges, and display options specific to the widget type.

Step 7: Save — Click Save to persist your dashboard layout and widget configurations. The dashboard is now accessible from your Dashboards list.

Dashboard types

/IOTCONNECT™ supports the following dashboard creation modes:

New Dashboard: A blank canvas where you build your visualization from scratch. Drag and drop any widgets from the bottom panel and configure each one individually. Best for custom monitoring views tailored to your specific use case.

New Device Dashboard: A pre-configured dashboard template focused on a single device. Automatically generates relevant widgets based on the device template attributes. Ideal for quick device-specific monitoring setup.

Import Dashboard: Load a previously exported dashboard JSON file. Use this to replicate dashboards across environments, share configurations between teams, or restore a saved dashboard layout.

Widget categories

Widgets in /IOTCONNECT™ are organized into six categories in the bottom panel:

Module: Platform-level counters displaying entity counts, user counts, and device counts. These widgets show aggregate metrics without requiring a specific device selection.

Live: Real-time data visualization widgets including charts, gauges, tiles, and grids. Live widgets connect to device telemetry streams and update automatically as new data arrives.

Other: Utility widgets for navigation and display including hyperlinks, labels, embedded iframes, and Grafana integrations. These provide supplementary content alongside data widgets.

DMMI: Device Management and Monitoring Interface widgets for camera feeds, device commands, and direct device interaction capabilities.

Device Audit: Diagnostic and status widgets showing device connection status, OTA updates, registered devices, notifications, and device location mapping.

KPIs: Key Performance Indicator widgets displaying smart rule counts and other platform metrics for operational monitoring.

ⓘ NOTE

Dashboards can be shared or kept private. Use the Only Visible to Me option when creating a dashboard to keep it as a personal dashboard that only you can see and edit.
