SignalR Connector

SignalR Connector

Stream live device telemetry to web applications in real time via SignalR. Push sensor data directly to browser-based dashboards, monitoring panels, and custom web apps without polling — enabling instant data visualization.

What is SignalR

SignalR is a real-time communication framework that enables server-to-client push notifications over WebSocket (with automatic fallback to Server-Sent Events and Long Polling). It is ideal for live dashboards that display IoT telemetry as it arrives.

Key Features:

Real-time Push: Server pushes data to connected browser clients instantly — no polling required.

Auto Transport Negotiation: WebSocket → Server-Sent Events → Long Polling fallback for universal compatibility.

Connection Groups: Organize clients by device, template, or entity for targeted broadcasts.

Scalable: Supports thousands of simultaneous browser connections with hub-based architecture.

Cross-platform: Works in any modern browser, .NET, Java, and JavaScript client libraries.

How it Works

When the SignalR connector is enabled, /IOTCONNECT™ broadcasts device data to all connected SignalR clients:

Device sends telemetry → Data arrives at /IOTCONNECT™ via MQTT/HTTPS.

Hub receives data → Telemetry is pushed to the SignalR hub configured for your account.

Broadcast to clients → All connected browser/app clients receive the data in real time.

Client renders → Your dashboard or app updates charts, gauges, and values instantly.

User Manual

Step 1: Navigate to Connector Settings

Go to Settings > Configuration > Live Data Streaming in the /IOTCONNECT™ portal.

Step 2: Enable SignalR

Find the SignalR connector card and toggle the switch to ON (green).

Step 3: Select Data Types

Choose: Telemetry (for live dashboard data).

Step 4: Configuration

The SignalR hub URL and connection details are provided after enabling. Use these in your client application to subscribe to live data.

Step 5: Save

Click Save. Live data streaming begins to all connected SignalR clients.

Step 6: Connect Your Client

Use the SignalR JavaScript/C# client library in your web or desktop application to connect to the hub and receive live data.

Use Cases

Live Dashboards: Build real-time monitoring dashboards that update without page refresh.

Control Rooms: Operations centers displaying live device status across an entire fleet.

Custom Web Apps: Embed live IoT data into custom business applications and portals.

Alert Visualization: Show real-time alerts and notifications as they occur.

Multi-screen Displays: Digital signage and kiosk displays showing live sensor data.

ⓘ NOTE

SignalR automatically manages connection lifecycle including reconnection on network interruptions. Available for both AWS and Azure deployments. Client libraries available for JavaScript, .NET, Java, and Python.
